Roof Improvement Program

The Roof Improvement Program helps property owners and tenants in downtown Ocean City replace aging roofs with durable, high-quality materials. If your property is south of 17th Street and at least 25 years old, you may qualify for a grant of up to $2,000 to assist with roof replacement costs.

Funded by OCDC fundraising events, the Worcester County Commissioners, and the Town of Ocean City, this program ensures that downtown buildings remain safe, secure, and visually appealing while meeting Ocean City’s design and wind-resistance standards.

Financial Assistance

  • Up to $2,000 in grant funding (must be matched by at least $4,000).

  • May be combined with other OCDC grant programs (such as Façade Improvement or Green Building Initiatives) at the discretion of the OCDC Board of Directors.

Eligibility

To qualify, your property must:
 

  • Be south of 17th Street (with some exceptions).

  • Be at least 25 years old.

  • Include eligible roof improvements, such as:

    • 50-year rated architectural shingles (must comply with Town of Ocean City wind requirements)

    • Metal roofs

    • High-quality flat roofs

  • Other OCDC-approved roof renovations

Contact OCDC to discuss your project.

Step 2

Get a Contractor

Obtain a proposal from a licensed contractor.

Step 3

Apply

Fill out and submit the Roof Improvement Program Application

Step 4

Submit Documents

Provide the contractor's proposal alone with your application

Step 5

Board Review

The OCDC Board will review your project and determine funding.

Step 6

Approval

If approved, you'll receive an award lettter and next step.
