Green Building Initiatives

The Green Building Initiatives Program helps business and property owners increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact in downtown Ocean City. If your property is located south of 17th Street, you may qualify for a grant of up to $7,500 to install long-term energy-saving solutions that lower costs and promote sustainability.
With funding from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, OCDC provides financial and technical assistance to help you make smart, eco-friendly upgrades to your property.
Financial Assistance

Up to $7,500 in grant funding (must be matched by at least $15,000).

Combine with the Façade Improvement Program (total grant cap: $10,000).

Additional grants may be available for other renovations (subject to OCDC Board approval).
Eligibility
Your property must be located south of 17th Street (with some exceptions). Eligible energy-efficient upgrades include:
Solar panels

Energy-efficient windows, doors, and vinyl siding

Siding made of majority recycled materials

High-efficiency insulation (meeting required R-values):

Walls: R-19
-
Ceilings: R-38
-
Floors (insulated crawl space): R-19

Floors (open crawl space): R-23

Rigid insulation for exterior walls

Weather stripping and caulking
-
Cool roofs
-
Other OCDC-approved energy efficiency upgrades
