Business Assistance Program

The Business Assistance Program provides financial and technical support to property owners and commercial tenants looking to launch or expand their business in downtown Ocean City. If your business is located south of 17th Street, you may qualify for a grant of up to $5,000 (or up to $10,000 for substantial investments) to help with interior renovations and fit-out expenses for your new location.
With funding from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, OCDC helps businesses create inviting, fully functional spaces that contribute to the economic growth of downtown Ocean City.
Financial Assistance

Up to $5,000 in grant funding (must be matched by at least $10,000).

In cases of substantial investment, applicants may qualify for up to $10,000.

Grants can be combined with other OCDC programs, but total funding cannot exceed one-third of total eligible project costs.
Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must:

Be the property owner or commercial tenant.

Operate a retail business, office, or restaurant.

Hold an Ocean City business license.
-
Have at least a one-year lease at the new location.

Fixed, non-portable improvements

Floor treatments
-
Electrical & plumbing work

Lighting & permanent fixtures

Walls, ceilings, & painting

Interior doors
-
ADA compliance renovations

Ductwork & HVAC improvements

Other OCDC-approved interior upgrades

Submit Documents
Provide the contractor's proposal alone with your application

Board Review
The OCDC Board will review your project and determine funding.

Approval
If approved, you'll receive an award lettter and next steps.
