Downtown Lighting Program

The Downtown Lighting Program is a voluntary initiative designed to improve public safety and enhance visibility for pedestrians and bicyclists in downtown Ocean City. Coordinated with the Town of Ocean City and the Ocean City Police Department, this program provides financial assistance to property and business owners to install LED lighting fixtures along alleys, streets, and side streets.

If your property is south of 17th Street, you may qualify for reimbursement of up to 50% of lighting installation costs, up to $500.

Financial Assistance

  • Up to $500 in reimbursement (covers 50% of total costs).

  • Permit fees waived by the Town of Ocean City.

  • Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.

Eligibility

To qualify, your property must:

 

  • Be south of 17th Street (with some exceptions).

  • Be located within the OCDC-designated area.

  • Use energy-efficient LED light fixtures.

  • Ensure lighting placement complies with Downtown Lighting Program & Town of Ocean City standards.

How To Apply

Do not start any work until you receive OCDC approval.

Step 1

Talk To Us

Contact OCDC to discuss your project.

Step 2

Apply

Include an estimate from a licensed electrician.

Step 3

Review & Approval

Applications will be reviewed and approved by OCDC staff.

Step 4

Obtain Permit

The Town of Ocean City will waive permit fees for approved projects.

Step 5

Installation

Work must be completed by a licensed electrician.

Step 6

Reimbursement

Once installation is complete, submit proof of payment to receive reimbursement.
